It's saying my iPad is incompatible with your app. What's the problem?
Our app runs on any iPad (1 or 2). But it does not run on an iPod, iPhone or iMac. So please make sure you're actually trying to use our app on our iPad. Then make sure that you've updated your iPad to Apple's latest operating system. Connect your iPad to your computer and launch iTunes. On the main screen for your iPad, tap on "check for updates" to update your iPad's operating system. That should fix the problem.
I lost, broke, cracked, replaced and/or upgraded my iPad. How do I get the lessons I purchased back?
No worries. Once you've fixed/found your iPad, just make sure you're logged into the App Store using the same Apple ID and password you used the first time you purchased our lessons. Then when you tap on the 'buy' button for any lessons you've already purchased, you should see an alert from Apple saying that you've already purchased that item and can download it again for free.
Is The Music Path available for Macintosh or Windows computers or for an Android-based device?
Not yet. But if there's enough interest, we'll glad port our app to these platforms. If you're interested in using The Music Path on a Macintosh or Windows computer or an Android-based device, please tell us by sending an email to notifyme@onthepath.com and put the operating system you'd like to use in the subject line of the email (e.g., "Macintosh" or "Windows" or "Android"). And we'll notify you as soon as we've ported our app to your favorite device.
I keep getting an alert that says, "This item is currently being modified. Please try again later." What's wrong?
Yes, we know! This alert is generated by Apple when they are updating information about an app (e.g., price, description). And we are waiting for Apple to process the updates to our app. As you can imagine, it is very frustrating for a small company like us to be waiting for Apple to update its databases while our customers are unable to buy our product.
If you'd like, you can send an email to us at, waitingtobuy@onthepath.com. Please tell us which lesson you are trying to buy in the subject line of the email and we will notify you as soon as the problem is resolved.
And in the meantime, you can download the free samples of the lessons to get started (we've increased the number of free chapters available while this problem persists).
Thanks for your patience. And please don't give up on us.
How much does the application cost?
You can download The Music Path app for free from the App Store. You only pay for the lessons you actually want to use. And you can play a 'trial' of each lesson for free before purchasing them. The lessons themselves cost anywhere between $2.99 to $19.99 depending on the artist.
Do I need an internet connection to use the application?
You need a wireless internet connection to download the lessons to your iPad the first time you use them. But from then on, you can use the lessons without an internet connection. So go to the forest and play your heart out!
Are your lessons only for guitar?
No. Our first set of lessons happen to all be for the guitar. But we have many lessons coming soon for a wide variety of instruments from drums, piano and ukulele to violin, harmonica and digeree doo.
Do you have lessons for complete beginners?
Absolutely. Steve Postell's lesson series, "Fundamentals of the Guitar", is designed for the complete novice and covers all the basics, starting with how to hold and tune a guitar.
Can I ask the teacher questions directly?
In most cases, our teachers welcome questions from students about the lessons they are teaching. There is a link in the help section of each lesson that you can use for sending your questions to us. We will answer these ourselves or forward them to the teacher as appropriate.
Is this a subscription service or do you pay-per-lesson?
Pay per lesson. We may offer a subscription service in the future. But at present, all of our lessons are purchased one-at-a-time with no future obligation or recurring charges.
How much do the lessons cost?
The lessons cost between $2.99 and $19.99 depending on the lesson. Lessons designed for beginners and that are part of a series tend to be on the lower end of this scale. One-off master classes and lessons where the proceeds are being donated to charity are priced at the higher end of this scale.
