I just downloaded the new Eric Johnson video WOW. If you haven’t seen this dude play guitar you are in for hours of fun. His lesson is very inspiring and having a chance to watch icons like Eric, Jackson Browne, Kenny Sultan and so many others close up and learn some of the tips they have picked up make this app one that is unique.

I have watched some of these videos 20 times and I’m still learning from them. I don’t care if you play guitar or not this is an app you will enjoy!

The new feature for full-screen practice session is exactly what I was saying would turn this into a 5 star app!! Such a nice addition to an already fine app. This app has taught me more and given me more inspiration than any method I’ve tried over the last 35+ years. I can’t believe I’m finally learning to play the guitar!!

This is an amazing app. Just to watch a master at work is already a thing of beauty, to have one as a tutor at your own time and at your leasure, at your own home, is a privilege. Even if you have to pay a nominal fee to use it, it’s still a privilege. The idea behind it is really well conceived and the implementation is very professional. One would expect that from the people involved. All of them are simply the best of the best and it’s just wonderful to have them teach me music. In fact, I really consider collecting something of each of the artist, just to watch them at work!

I have purchased several “guitar lessons on line” and this is by far the best I’ve seen. I watched Jeff’s intro and figured I’d give my favorite artist Jackson Browne a try. WOW fabulous. Next I purchased Kenny Sultans lessons on “Fingerstyle Blues” and “Intro to the Blues”. Again marvelous stuff makes a beginner sound like you’ve been playing for years.

I teach a guitar workshop on the weekends and I recommend to everyone in the class they get this app and pick the lessons that apply to them.

The application is written in such a way that no matter what your level is you can learn from it. I know beginners would benefit from this but even if you’ve been playing for years (I’ve been playing for 40 years) you should look at this. There are some incredible musicians who have created lessons for every level and they keep adding more.

Get this app you’ll have hours of fun with some of the great musicians and you’ll learn something no matter what your level.

To whom it may concern,

I found this product very helpful to play the guitar, as i learnt it in a 2 week period. My wife was very impressed….

For me personally, I can follow the classes any time as my prof. Life is hectic right now. As I needed a personal distraction to think of something else than work or finances. Keeps me happy and focus on what’s important in life enjoy every moment.

Imagine the multiplied years of all the top performers taking their time and never getting frustrated with you. Imagine them showing you multiple secrets of the trades that you only get from experience. Some may quibble about the price, but have they ever priced real lessons from the teenager down the street who barely knows how to play themself? This app is a real affordable solution to the problem of not enough music education in our schools. I hope, over time, they’ll integrate more instruments other than just the typical rock instruments.

This app is the BOMB! Kenny Sultan’s lessons on acoustic blues are instructive, informal, and very inspiring! He is a fun, effective music teacher that can come with me everywhere, showing me the techniques and tricks of blues guitar. I will be purchasing all of his lessons and highly recommend them if you love the blues even a little.

I’m also completely hooked with the features of the app, like practice mode, tabs, notation, tuner, and slowed tempo (while keeping original pitch, mind you), and can’t wait to see what Kenny and other musicians will come up with in the future. This app makes perfect use of the technology and iPad itself while delivering good, solid teaching from master musicians. Thank you for creating this amazing app!

Everything in this app is woven together to create a very natural and unintimidating interface. Very modest while at the same time very powerful. The price for the lessons are really worth it. I swear they are. The lessons are divided into sections rather then one huge continuous session. That way you cant get overwhelmed about the size. It really is set out like a book.

Please, if you are serious about learning the guitar give this app a chance. It cant let you down.

This app is truly incredible. I have been looking for a convenient way to learn an instrument for a long time and finally found it. The instruction and visual/software aids are very helpful and easy to understand. Best of all, you are learning music that actually sounds dope.

Even though music is 80% practice, it’s tough to get started (or restarted) just from a book. I’ve certainly tried my share of times. This app, with its range of lessons makes for one of the most exciting experiences I’ve had in terms of playing instruments! I can’t wait for more, Master classes for $20 is definitely a deal I can’t pass up. Thumbs way up!

I have previewed the Jackson Browne lesson and intend on buying the entire lesson. Here’s why I think this is the best lesson program ever;

*** They break down the song in multiple ways. You can read the tabs, watch the fingering of chords or the fingerpicking, and you have the ability to slow the video down to half or quarter speed.

*** The lesson really takes you through the song, step by step. Often other vendors give you an overview: chords, the chorus, and then move on to the next song.

*** Quality video. It’s about as perfect quality as you can get.

I look forward to seeing more from this app!

This is an excellent app, it’s very slick and very well presented. Don’t be put off by the cost of the lessons, they represent very good value for money, especially when compared to the cost of a ‘real’ tutor.

I’ve recently started to learn the guitar (played the piano 15 years ago) and was starting from scratch. Started off by buying the usual ‘beginners’ book with a CD but quickly worked my way through it. Having done that I was considering my next options, I felt it was too soon to be paying good money for a guitar tutor as I was still learning the basics and dealing with sore fingers! I wanted something that allowed me to progress at my own pace and remaining able to put the guitar when my fingers hurt (they will if you’re a beginner!).

I’ve now worked my way through the first Steve Postell lesson (£1.19) and quick frankly, I learned more from that lesson that I did from the £9.99 book + CD, the remaining £8.80 will buy a lot more lessons! What I found useful was the way in which you can see how chords are played from the various camera angles, whilst also seeing the musical notation. The iPad really is a great medium for this.

When choosing a ‘guitar tutor’ app I was warey of the cheap or free apps being potentially substandard, there will be good ones of course but I wanted to make sure I learnt correctly from the start. This app achieves this.

I really hope that they continue producing the lessons as they really are great. Thanks guys.

I’ve been teaching myself the bass for a year now and haven’t got too far on my own. There are not very many good apps to teach the bass guitar but this is it. You could learn to be a one man band with just this app. Im just lookin to jam out at the house. This app provides excellent instruction and plenty of music to practice with and answers to the common problems you experience when beginning you just can’t get from a book. Can’t wait for the Sklar and Beck videos so I can really get down on the bass.

반복해서 들을 수 있고, 타브악보와 클래식 악보중 선택해서 볼 수 있는 것이 참 좋은 것 같습니다.
튜너도 내장되어있고.. 여유되는데로 다른 강의도 많이 들어보려합니다!

Hi there, just wanted to congratulate you for the wonderful app, and in particular the Richard Thompson lesson. I know you were contemplating if the level of difficulty is too high, and although I have studied Richards playing alot already from videos and ear so I had aspects such as the hybrid picking already but to be able to have every detail of the song in front of me is just terrific. And the level of difficulty is perfect, it is quite easy to play the practice techniques at the slowest pace, so it’s merely a matter of practice to get up to speed.

Fantastic lesson!

Fantastic! OMG! The Sun Never Shines On The Poor will probably always be beyond my reach but the other three are all songs that I can strive for. So much on-line instruction is either really very basic, or amateur’s good faith attempts at more interesting songs. You have a tremendous and unique product here. Keep it up! I will now become obsessed to learn Beeswing. For those who grinch about the cost of the lesson…. I mean come on… the equivalent of a private multi-song lesson with the actual artist for less than the cost of a couple of sets of strings…… a deal all day long

16th May 2011
Every once in a while a product comes along that is so well done, so well thought out, that it takes a little time to realize just how special it is. "On the Path," is such a product. This brilliantly conceived and beautifully produced iPad app presents a platform for an ever-expanding universe of enlightening musical instruction, taught by masters of the craft.

When I first read about "On the Path" and learned famous artists were involved, my cynical side expected the usual casual star turn with some manufactured support material tacked on. How wrong I was. One of "On the Path’s" premiere lessons (actually a large set of lessons) is hosted by folk/rock legend Jackson Browne, who – in a very intimate one-to-one way – helpfully explains and demonstrates how to play, note for note lick for lick, four of his most famous songs. (And true to form for Jackson, he’s donating 100% of the proceeds of the cost of his lessons to charity.)

The high definition video and outstanding features of the app put it at the top of my list of interactive music applications (and I’ve been collecting them since the pre-Web days of Peter Gabriel’s "Xplora" and David Bowie’s "Jump" CD-ROMs etc.).

If you play an instrument, most notably at the moment guitar, bass piano or drums (or sitar!), you owe it to yourself to give "On the Path" a look and a listen. And don’t miss actor/musician Jeff Bridges’ great intro video about it.

One of my all time favorite apps! If you’re trying to learn an instrument–in my case, the guitar–and don’t have the time to commit to a proper class, and just getting the tabs online and learn by yourself is just not cutting it, this is what to get.

Yes, you have to pay for the lessons–have you ever checked the price of a real live class? Have you checked the price of an crappy online course?? Of a book??? Anyway, this argument doesn’t make sense to me: they put A LOT of effort in this, the video is perfect, the teachers are top-notch, sound is great, and the amount of stuff you can do do to personalize the experience is worth every penny.

You can watch the lessons over-and-over again, set the tempo, use a tuner, record yourself…. the list goes on and on.

Bottom line: TOTALLY RECOMMEND IT!!

This is one of the best apps that I’ve come across on the iPad so far, as a budding guitarist and bassist I’m enjoying using the back to basics lessons and fully intend to continue through to more advanced lessons.

Once you’ve downloaded the lessons ( this does take a while ) the videos are smooth and easy to work with. The extra diagrams and tabs along the bottom of the scream are easy to read.

Lesson appear to be somewhat expensive, but when the calibre of the instructors, the donations to charity that are made (according to the website) and the cost of a private guitar lesson are taken into account this doesn’t seem to bad.

Personally I’d like to see more bass guitar lessons, but other than that congratulations to all involved in this app!

A those times where you wish you could play like the real deal. Instead of making up your own fingering patterns, it’s all right there from the original artist and how they play it. No more pretending you know the pattern. Now you can learn it exactly. Very nice app, especially when your 50 year old dad spends 10 hours on trying to figure this stuff out on guitar, now he can use a lit less time.

Really cool app. There’s been a lot of thought put into the interface. Just download it and watch the ‘tutorial’ that Jeff Bridges does. He cracks me up when he calls Ravi Shankar ‘up and coming’.

I will definitely be buying some of these lessons. I’m hooked.
